A Quiet Month, By Design
August was different from every month before it — deliberately so. With the summer holiday period drawing readers and professionals alike away from their usual routines, new writing paused for the month: no new essays, IOW pieces, or HWTK pieces were published in August. Instead, the month’s effort went into back-office work — platform housekeeping, review, and preparation for a busier autumn.
That left a question: what to post each day, across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit, if nothing new was ready? The answer was the back catalogue — a stock of pieces published earlier in the year that had either not yet been promoted at all, or had only reached some of YFL’s four platforms rather than all of them.
How August’s Daily Posts Were Filled
Early in the month, the existing posting schedule ran its course as planned — pieces already queued from July’s writing, including the AI and Higher Education suite and the Parenting Style and Referral pieces, went out on their scheduled dates.
From 20 August, with nothing further already queued, each day’s post was chosen fresh from the archive: essays and pieces first published earlier in 2025 or 2026 that had a gap somewhere in their four-platform record — sometimes never posted at all, sometimes posted to one or two platforms but not all four. Eleven pieces were worked through this way across the second half of the month, closing several long-standing promotional gaps in the process — including The Victoria Sponge Problem, published back in August 2025 and only now reaching all four platforms for the first time.
The effect is a library doing double duty: content that had already been written was finally given the audience it was always meant to reach, while the writing itself took a planned rest.
What’s Next — September
September brings YFL back to its usual rhythm on both fronts. New writing resumes, and the promotional outreach to local authority children’s services teams — paused for the summer alongside everything else — picks back up where it left off.
August, in other words, was a pause, not a slowdown in ambition. The platform enters autumn with a refreshed back catalogue, a rested writing schedule, and September’s work already taking shape.
